Who I Am

Brand Nucleus
Alter ego: Andrew Schepers

Let’s face facts. Your business has digital marketing needs. Even if you’re already successful and profitable, the pressures for growth are interminable. Your industry is going to evolve again, but faster. And there’s always another new competitor looking to take a bite out of the lovely lunch you’ve made for yourself.

Enter Brand Nucleus. A one-human agency with two decades of experience in extremely high-impact marketing.

My Story

I formed Brand Nucleus in a small town in Minnesota back in 2004. In the first five years of my career, I designed, built and deployed over 100 websites for clients across the full spectrum of industries. I succeeded by pouring creative accelerant onto countless brands and ran social media programs before Facebook was really a thing. This experience, along with some fantastic mentors, built the entrepreneureal mindset that has guided the rest of my career. A priceless attitude of radical ownership directed at solving the biggest problems in growth.

In the second five years, I walked into a 100-year old grocery business in Minnesota that had almost missed the internet revolution and brought them to the cutting edge. At Coborn’s, I coupled vision with technical expertise to rebuild their entire digital portfolio, from Apples to Zucchinnis. Websites, mobile grocery delivery, social media, digital signage, email marketing, sweepstakes, CRM, native app development, digital recruiting and even the intranet were all stripped to the studs and rebuilt better. I was honored to hand-build the team and get showered in awards, but delivering business growth was always the motivation.

I started as a visual designer, but my love of digital automation and marketing strategy had taken over and I was driven to gain experience solving problems at another altitude. So I packed my bags for Seattle and leveraged my design, development and Salesforce Marketing Cloud expertise to deliver solutions for Microsoft, HTC and LiveNation. Suddenly, the Siren called… and I answered.

I spent eight years propelling Starbucks ever-onward. My love of coffee surpassed only by my drive to help deliver moonshot after moonshot while building and leading phenomenal talent.

First, I lead Email Marketing and eCommerce UX/UI at the Teavana subsidiary, where I was the resident Agilist. I redesigned, rewrote and rebuilt the email marketing engine to become an automated growth powerhouse, driving millions of dollars in sales. In just over two years, my team achieved industry-leading engagement and conversion while growing from 400k subscribers to over Two Million. Thanks to my multivariate testing roadmap and continuous improvement efforts, our lifecycle marketing touchpoints went from one to over forty. The level of hyper-personalization in our campaigns had even the marketing wizards at Starbucks confounded.

From there, I became an early leader in the new Starbucks Marketing Operations org, where I was responsible for scaling complexity to meet growth objectives in the marketing technology stack. My team and I managed web global content deployment and localization, content management system migration, A/B testing and personalization for a plethora of Starbucks’ web properties, apps and digital displays.

When the Starbucks Mobile Order & Pay platform launched in a pilot store, and subsquently birthed an entire industry, I was there to scale menu and content operations. From an experiment to a $4 Billion/year behemoth, I served as the Release Manager and was on point for the product launch lifecycle. I broke rank and started the first team running Agile and Scrum team within the Starbucks Global Marketing organization, knowing it was the only way to scale thousands of tasks while managing a huge continuous improvement backlog. The program evolved from a taped-together process to a bullet-proof launch sequence across 16 teams and over 100 stakeholders – and routinely delivered record sales performance.

I’ve had phenomenal luck in my career – and my life – to play a key role in many grand transformations.

That’s more than enough about me.

I want to know more about you:

Are you ready for a marketing breakthrough?

Can you imagine what transformation looks like from your current state?

Do you think a typical agency can help you get there, or do you need to think differently?

Do you need to hire a small army to fix your problems, or should you just hire Batman?
